SCHOOLS OUTREACH PROGRAMME

Bringing the magic of books to schools in the area.

Meeting an author in person is the perfect way to encourage young minds to explore the world of books. An authors visit to school transforms the learning environment. To make sure everyone has the chance to experience Towers and Tales we have designed an Outreach programme, which takes our authors into schools and venues across the region on the 28th of April. Authors offer readings and workshops in the classroom.

BookBag is delivered in partnership with Children’s Books Ireland. Aimed at DEIS schools, every class in the school is visited by an author or illustrator over a series of weeks. The children are also gifted a book to take home and keep. In addition a number of books are gifted to the school. These books are lovingly compiled by Children’s Books Ireland with the goal of helping teachers and parents discuss difficult topics with younger students through story. BookBag was initiated by picture book-maker Niamh Sharkey during her term as Laureate na nÓg (2012–2014).
