SCHOOLS OUTREACH PROGRAMME

BookBag is delivered in partnership with Children’s Books Ireland. Aimed at DEIS schools, every school is visited by an author or illustrator and children are gifted a book to take home and keep. In addition a number of books are gifted to the school to start or add to their library. These books are lovingly compiled by Children’s Books Ireland with the goal of helping teachers and parents discuss difficult topics with younger students through story. BookBag was initiated by picture book-maker Niamh Sharkey during her term as Laureate na nÓg (2012–2014). You can donate to this initiative to give the gift of reading to a young reader. Bringing the magic of books to schools in the area.

Meeting an author in person is the perfect way to encourage young minds to explore the world of books. An authors visit to school transforms the learning environment. To make sure everyone has the chance to experience Towers and Tales we have designed an Outreach programme, which takes our authors into schools and venues across the region. Authors offer readings and workshops in the classroom.
We are delighted to partner with Waterford City and Council Library Services to deliver our schools and outreach programme. For more details email nbaldwin@waterfordcouncil.ie.
